Originally established as the SERUM INSTITUTE in 1932, IVPM has a long history of serving the state, including playing a major role in the eradication of Rinderpest in India. Today, we continue to uphold our legacy by strictly adhering to Good Manufacturing Standards (GMP).
Our facilities are capable of producing four Bacterial Vaccines, five Viral Vaccines, five Diagnostics, and one Diluent, serving veterinary hospitals and farmers across Tamil Nadu with critical disease prevention tools.
Founded on April 7, 1932, as the SERUM INSTITUTE, we relocated to the present 130.5-acre campus in Ranipet in March 1948, establishing our long-term presence and mission to serve animal health.
The institute operates through four core divisions: Production, Quality Control & Quality Assurance, Pharmaceutical, and Supportive, ensuring seamless operations for our essential work.
We operate under strict statutory and ethical governance, including the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC), Institutional Animal Ethics Committee (IAEC), and the Vishakha Committee.
We host a Central Referral Laboratory for the diagnosis of livestock and poultry diseases and manufacture key diagnostics like *Brucella abortus* Antigens and the California Mastitis Test (CMT) Reagent.
Our production includes critical Bacterial Vaccines (Anthrax, Black Quarter, H.S.) and Viral Vaccines (Sheep Pox, Ranikhet Disease, Duck Plague) to control major animal diseases.
We support the future of veterinary science by offering hands-on training for college students in specialized areas like Egg Inoculation, Cell Culture Techniques, and Laboratory Animal Techniques.
