The RDVL vaccine is prepared out of live Ranikhet disease virus of high antigenicity and low virulence (lentogenic) known as La Sota Strain. This vaccine is prepared by freeze drying the emulsion of embryo and allantoic fluid from infected embryonated eggs.

The RDVL vaccine is prepared out of live Ranikhet disease virus of high antigenicity and low virulence (lentogenic) known as La Sota Strain. This vaccine is prepared by freeze drying the emulsion of embryo and allantoic fluid from infected embryonated eggs.

Indication

This vaccine is used for prophylactic vaccination against Ranikhet disease in 4–5 weeks old chicks. It is advised as a booster vaccine after the primary vaccination with F-Strain.

Reconstitution & Vaccination
  • This vaccine is administered through drinking water.
  • Dissolve the freeze dried content of each vial in minimum quantity of clean drinking water to get uniform suspension.
  • Transfer the reconstituted vaccine (one vial) to 4 litres of clean drinking water containing skimmed milk powder (4 gm/litre). Mix thoroughly.
  • Chicks which had booster vaccination with RDV–La Sota strain should be vaccinated with RDV–Komorov strain at the age of 8–10 weeks.
Immunity

The immunity lasts for 2–3 months.

The vaccine is available as 500 doses per vial.

Storage & Keeping Quality

When kept in cold storage, the vaccine is stable for upto 18 months from the date of manufacture
