Anthrax Spore Vaccine is a glycerinated suspension of live spores of non-capsulated avirulent strain of Bacillus anthracis 34F2 Sterne Strain, used for protection of susceptible animals against anthrax.

Anthrax Spore Vaccine is a glycerinated suspension of live spores of a non-capsulated avirulent strain of Bacillus anthracis 34F2 Sterne Strain.

Indications

The vaccine can be used to protect all species of animals such as cattle, sheep, goat, horse, ass, elephant, pig and camel. It can be used both in disease-free areas and during an outbreak.

Dosage and Administration
  • Cattle: 1 ml subcutaneous (s/c)
  • Sheep & Goat: 0.5 ml injected in the caudal fold (s/c)
  • Elephant & Horse: 1 ml s/c (a second dose of 3 ml after 1 month is advisable)
  • Other species: 1 ml s/c
Immunity

Immunity is established about 10 days after vaccination and is expected to protect the animals for 10 months to 1 year.

Presentation

The vaccine is supplied as 100 ml and 250 ml vials.

Storage and Keeping Quality

The vaccine transported at room temperature should be used within 21 days from the date of dispatch. When transported and stored under refrigerated conditions (2–8°C), it keeps well for 6 months from the date of manufacture.
