Ranikhet Disease Vaccine Komorov vial
Komorov Strain Vaccine — 200 & 1000 dose vials

The RDVK vaccine is prepared from live Ranikhet Disease Virus of high antigenicity and moderate virulence (mesogenic type), known as Komorov strain. The vaccine is produced by freeze-drying the emulsion of embryo and allantoic fluid derived from infected embryonated eggs.

Indications

This vaccine is used for prophylactic vaccination against Ranikhet Disease in chicks aged more than 8 weeks. It is recommended that chicks be primed with RDVF (5–7 days), boosted with RDV–La Sota (4–5 weeks), and then vaccinated with RDV–Komorov at 8–10 weeks of age.

Dosage and Administration
  • The freeze-dried content of each 200-dose vial should be reconstituted in 100 ml of chilled sterile normal saline.
  • The freeze-dried content of each 1000-dose vial should be reconstituted in 500 ml of chilled sterile normal saline.
  • First dissolve the vial content in a small quantity of saline using a syringe, then transfer to the measured volume.
  • Mix thoroughly before administration.
  • Dosage: Inject 0.5 ml subcutaneously (s/c) in the wing web.
  • Use the reconstituted vaccine within one hour.
Reactions

In occasional cases, birds may show mild drowsiness from the 3rd to 6th day post-vaccination. Rarely, a small percentage of vaccinated birds may collapse due to nutritional or management-related issues.

Immunity

Immunity develops within 10–14 days after vaccination and is expected to last for the productive life of the bird. However, in the event of an outbreak of Ranikhet Disease in nearby areas, revaccination is advised.

Presentation

Supplied as freeze-dried vaccine in 200-dose and 1000-dose vials.

Storage and Keeping Quality

When kept in cold storage, the vaccine is stable for upto 18 months from the date of manufacture

Handling and Safety

Use the vaccine immediately after reconstitution. Avoid exposure to sunlight or heat during preparation and administration. Vaccinate only healthy birds and dispose of used vials safely.
